Date: 10/16/2017. Last week it was announced that the subsidy for the development of the Center for Innovative Craftsmanship (CIV) Built Environment – an initiative of Gilde Opleidingen, Bouwnemers Limburg, Fontys Hogeschool, Zuyd Hogeschool and the Province of Limburg, among others – has been awarded by the Regional investment fund (Rif ) MBO. Aranco supported the parties with the Rif application by developing a regional vision and business plan.

The built environment is an important sector that is undergoing major and rapid development. The urgency to innovate is great in both education and business, in order to remain relevant and successful in the construction sector. In addition to a current staff shortage and a less positive image of the construction sector, certain construction vocational training courses are also at risk of disappearing from the province. In addition, new and different skills are expected from (future) personnel in the sector. As a public-private partnership, the CIV Built Environment wants to play an important role in this. The CIV will also help create a strong network among the many (small) construction companies in Limburg and positively profile the entire construction sector through an innovative approach.

The CIV trains and retrained employees of the future for the Limburg construction sector on the basis of a hybrid model in which students, teachers and employees of companies work together to keep the practical learning environment up-to-date and optimal.
