Date: December 16, 2014. On December 11, the next important step was taken in the development of the regional cross-border labour market with the signing of a Benelux agreement for smoother cross-border labour mobility. The Benelux recommendation focuses in particular on the mutual automatic recognition of diplomas in higher education, the provision of information to frontier workers and the better mapping of regional labour market data in the Benelux border areas. With regard to the provision of information to frontier workers, fully in line with the advice from the “Aranco reports” (March 2014), the focus is on digital border information provision (through the further development of the Benelux web portal for frontier workers) and on the coordination of initiatives on personal border information provision. The agreements made will be made concrete in annual implementation plans.
