After an intensive review process, Aranco was selected by the AEBR (Association of European Border Regions) as an “expert” to examine specific cross-border problems and develop solutions for these problems. The AEBR is an organisation of European regions engaged in cross-border cooperation. Aranco has thus become part of a pool of experts who are regularly asked for advice by the AEBR.

The first case is an issue of the Belgian Province of East Flanders, which has to do with obstacles in taking up cross-border projects under the LEADER program for rural development, a subsidy program initiated by the European Commission. Due to differences in application procedures in both countries, it is currently not possible to jointly submit an application for a LEADER grant at a cross-border level. Aranco will map, analyse and propose possible solutions to the problem.
